Subtext in Dialogue

#writing #dialogue #creativity

Write dialogue with underlying meaning and tension

Write a dialogue scene between two characters where neither says what they actually mean. Use subtext to create tension. The surface conversation should be mundane (talking about weather, food, or a household task), but the reader should understand there's a hidden conflict or emotion. Aim for 20-30 lines of dialogue with minimal dialogue tags or description.
