The Simulation Argument

#metaphysics #epistemology #future-studies

Examine the probability that reality is a computer simulation.

Examine the Simulation Argument proposed by Nick Bostrom. Discuss the theoretical trilemma which suggests that at least one of the following propositions is true: (1) the human race is very likely to go extinct before reaching a post-human stage, (2) post-human civilizations are extremely unlikely to run significant numbers of simulations, or (3) we are almost certainly living in a simulation. Analyze the statistical probability and assumptions behind each statement.
